01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

North of Senso-ji, along the quieter streets of Asakusa 3-chome, Petika draws visitors for its patisserie showcase and beverage menu. The display changes with the calendar, rotating seasonal fruit tarts and cakes so that each return visit offers something new.

Seasonal mille-feuille and fruit tarts are shop fixtures. A winter mille-feuille loaded with Amaou strawberries layers crisp, thinly baked pastry sheets with rich custard cream, countered by the berries' bright acidity. In warmer months, juicy white peach tarts take pride of place, while autumn brings versions featuring purple sweet potato or pumpkin, each accentuating the natural sweetness of the produce against a fragrant tart shell.

A traditional firm egg pudding remains another regular order. Its rich custard texture is offset by a spoonful of fresh cream for a balanced, gently sweet spoonful. Other creations incorporate subtle Japanese accents, such as layering anko bean paste into an Amaou strawberry shortcake.

Beverages receive equal consideration, spanning espresso, Americanos, and velvety flat whites. Tea drinkers can select classic pours like Darjeeling and Earl Grey, herbal blends featuring Damask rose or German chamomile, or a full-bodied matcha latte.

A one-drink minimum applies for dine-in seating, suited to lingering over cake and a chosen brew. Takeaway is also offered, making it straightforward to pick up favourite pastries to enjoy at home.
